UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF

The

United Way
of Kankakee County would like to thank the community for their terrific support of the 2010 Campaign Kick-Off. Special thanks goes to all who attended the Montgomery Gentry concert, the many volunteers, sponsors, partner agencies, concert producer, Hidden Cove Sportsplex, Jason and the Haymakers, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and their band. United Way is pleased to have brought this level of entertainment to the area.

United Way also thanks the community for all of its feedback since the concert. There are some great suggestions for improvements. Over the next few weeks, we will meet with each of the concert’s partners to review the concerns, feedback and suggestions.

We greatly appreciate all of our donors who continually show they are dedicated and generous people. United Way’s annual donation campaign will remain the cornerstone of how we fund 46 programs within our 24 partner agencies. However, those programs and agencies are being strained and we recognize the need to develop creative and innovative ways to increase awareness and reach the 2010 campaign goal of $1,100,000. As long as there are needs in Kankakee County ,

United Way
is committed to meeting the challenge.

- United Way and Kroger

Shop at Kroger and help support your community through United Way of Kankakee County (08/18/09)  Kroger and United Way have teamed up to help you “Give a little bit” or a lot to your community.  When you visit your local Kroger store, in Bourbonnais, between August 16, 2009 and September 12th, 2009 you can take advantage of “customer scans”, which are donation cards you can complete at check-out.  The cards will be located at each register for customers to add a donation to the United Way of Kankakee County to their grocery bill.   ALL money raised via customer scans stays right here in Kankakee County, where it is raised.  Donors will receive a tax receipt on their store receipt upon making a customer scan donation.  Last year the employees of Kroger raised over $2,300.00 themselves for the United Way of Kankakee County’s 2008-2009 Campaign. These dollars help to support 44 programs within 24 partner agencies focusing on better health, income and education for the citizens of Kankakee county.  This year more than ever the need is strong and you can make a difference in so many lives by simply saying “I would like to help” at Kroger.
