United Way: Dollars for Denim October 23, 2009
Kankakee, IL (September 22, 2009) - Local businesses and schools will be dressing in denim on October 23, 2009 in an effort to support Kankakee County through participation in United Way’s Dollars for Denim campaign.
Employees are given the opportunity to wear jeans to work for a suggested donation of $5. Each participant is given a sticker that indicates his or her support of the event.
The United Way has set Dollars for Denim goal of $6,500. The event money will be applied to the $1,200,000 campaign goal set by the Board of Directors and the campaign Co-Chairs, Michael and Debbie Arno. This aggressive goal was based on how United Way can further help the community.
Michael and Debbi Arno have been actively involved in the community since they relocated to Bourbonnais two years ago. Michael is Chief Executive Officer at Provena St. Mary’s hospital. Debbi is on the Board of Directors for Maternity BVM and Kankakee Valley Montessori School.
Companies that have corporate policies that prohibit their employees from wearing denim, or already allow their employees to wear denim, are encouraged to find a different, creative way to raise the funds. If you need suggestions, feel free to call the United Way office.
Greg Carrell, the Executive Director of United Way of Kankakee County, commented, “Dollars for Denim is another way we can all give a little bit. Not only is this event is a fun way for employees to support the annual United Way campaign, it also creates awareness of the 25 partner agencies.”
It is not too late to participate! For more information about United Way’s Dollars for Denim, please call the United Way office at (815) 932-7476 or email intern@MyUnitedWay.org.
