Women United Annual Breakfast 2022

Support our investments in local women and girls

Addressing the challenges facing women and girls is critical. With greater access to education, financial opportunity, and professional development, women become agents of change in their own lives and in their community. They pave a path toward a better tomorrow for everyone.

We know the critical impact an individual's youngest years can have on their future path to economic freedom and security. We know the power of providing resources from an early age and clearing obstacles so that women and girls can achieve their dreams, hopes, and goals.

And we know, more than anything else, that the time to act is NOW. Our women and girls cannot wait any more. They cannot wait for their basic needs to be met. They cannot wait for systemic barriers to be removed. They cannot wait for career opportunities that set them on the path to fulfill their dreams. And WE cannot wait for a better time to make those dreams a reality.

For the last six years, our Women United Breakfast has brought the community together to celebrate the power of women and girls in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. In 2021, United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties doubled down on its efforts to invest in programs and services that support the advancement of women and girls by launching the Women United affinity group. Over 50 women joined our call-to-action and have committed financially towards the initiative which supports programs impacting the lives of local women and girls.

Mayhill Moon | mayhillmoon.com

Laura Andersen is the founder of Mayhill Moon, a marketing agency based in Bourbonnais. She gets geeked about cheesy pop ballads and has a love/hate relationship with running and an irrational fear of shelf-stable dairy.

After earning her degree in Business Administration and Marketing, the small-town girl got the urge to have a big city experience and started her marketing career at an advertising agency in Chicago. Her client experience at the agency included Visa, Microsoft, eBay, Jamba Juice, Jim Beam and Egyptian Cotton, just to name a few. Now, with Mayhill Moon, she's bringing big strategic thinking to brands of all sizes from local, privately-owned businesses to a well-known worldwide software company.

Oh, and she's a two-time marathoner and a mom of triplets. It's safe to say she thrives on big exciting challenges.
