Support our investments in local women and girls
Addressing the challenges facing women and girls is critical. With greater access to education, financial opportunity, and professional development, women become agents of change in their own lives and in their community. They pave a path toward a better tomorrow for everyone.
We know the critical impact an individual's youngest years can have on their future path to economic freedom and security. We know the power of providing resources from an early age and clearing obstacles so that women and girls can achieve their dreams, hopes, and goals.
And we know, more than anything else, that the time to act is NOW. Our women and girls cannot wait any more. They cannot wait for their basic needs to be met. They cannot wait for systemic barriers to be removed. They cannot wait for career opportunities that set them on the path to fulfill their dreams. And WE cannot wait for a better time to make those dreams a reality.
For the last six years, our Women United Breakfast has brought the community together to celebrate the power of women and girls in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. In 2021, United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties doubled down on its efforts to invest in programs and services that support the advancement of women and girls by launching the Women United affinity group. Over 50 women joined our call-to-action and have committed financially towards the initiative which supports programs impacting the lives of local women and girls.
