Board Spotlight: Maureen Powell

How long and in what ways have you been involved with United Way?

I have been a board member since 2015 and was Secretary on the Executive Board for two years (2017-2019). I've served on the communications committee and the Women United committee.

What inspired you to become involved with United Way?

I've always been involved with the United Way campaign and other charitable giving initiatives at work. When my colleague, Dale Rosene's term was ending on the board, he suggested I apply to serve.

What aspect of United Way's work do you connect with most and why?

I connect most with the work with children and families, which stems back to my time serving with the Junior League of Kankakee County for many years.

Why do you think it's important to support United Way's mission?

I think it's important to support United Way's mission to create long-lasting solutions that benefit individuals and strengthen our community.
