Board Spotlight: Sarah Marion

How long and in what ways have you been involved with United Way?

I've been on the board of directors for 3 years. I have served on the Marketing Committee and Women United Committee. Most recently, I am chairing the Women United Committee.

What inspired you to become involved with United Way?

In my position, I have the opportunity to work with both the community and our local businesses. When invited to sit on the board, I felt as if this was the missing piece to my job. There are so many agencies in our county that could be of benefit to residents and in turn, we can work together to help agencies grow and help them increase their impact. At the end of the day, it's about bringing people together to build a thriving community.sm

What aspect of United Way's work do you connect with most and why?

I love sitting on the Women United committee. This committee works to identify different ways to empower women, whether it be by women telling their stories to inspire others, building up our community, or just coming together to support one another.

Why do you think it's important to support United Way's mission?

Because if we are all working towards a common goal of advocating for positive change, our community will be a healthier, happier place - and that can spread from our own community, to our nation, and to our world.
